Dr. K. Malik (Murray Edwards College, Cambridge, August 2010): Very clean, comfortable and quiet work environment. Excellent overall service and a high standard breakfast provided.
Pearl-Angelika LEE (St Catharine's College, Cambridge, August 2010): Very pleasant room and ambiance. For those who cre about these matters, it must be said that the rooms in the modern section are not really soundproof so that the sounds of cohabitation with your neighbors must be taken into stride. In the summer the ambiance is generally festive, so party sounds into the night may limit sleeping hours. Otherwise, the stay at St Catharine's was a pure pleasure.
LEVRAULT Patricia (St Catharine's College, Cambridge, August 2010): Just wanted to thank you dearly for the overall experience : We have had the best time ever in Cambridge and would love to come back some time soon ... Everything was simply perfect, from the wonderful general welcoming of the college staff, the magnificent breakfast and meals that we appreciated very much, and the perfect location of our rooms. We would certainly highly recommend it, and cannot wait to come back very soon.
With best regards, Patricia LEVRAULT, from France
Paula Greenlees (Clare College, Cambridge, August 2010): My daughter and I stayed in Memorial Court, Clare College. The porters were so friendly and helpful. On our arrival the porter was cheerful and made sure we knew our way around. We were very pleased with our room. It was very quiet, and we had a twin room plus a sitting room, (a set), which I discovered later was first year accommodation in the college. We had plenty of space and slept very well. The pillows were a bit on the thin side, but that was fine. I think it is important to remember that one is staying in student accommodation, not an hotel. It was so convenient to be in the centre of Cambridge, as this made our stay easier, as we had lots of errands to do. Breakfast wasn't included, but that didn't matter; there was tea and coffee, and we went to EAT in Lion's Yard to have breakfast. We also had college passes so we could walk through Clare and visit the chapel, library and gardens. I would stay again, but my only reservation would be about staying during term time. Having had a daughter who was a Cambridge student, I know how noisy halls can get with doors banging during term time. Memorial Court was well designed, so maybe this wouldn't be as bad as some accommodation. Thank you to the porters!
Jonathan Best (St Catharine's College, Cambridge, August 2010): My standard single room turned out to be massive, with wood panelling, several good armchairs and a large desk, all overlooking the main quad. Very satisfactory. Good breakfast too. Booking a normal hotel would be a mistake, with this sort of thing on offer.
BRIAN THORPE (Churchill College, Cambridge, August 2010): I think you should change the towels occasionally, they get rather dirty after a week.I saw a review criticising the communal showers, but I had no problems with finding it in use when I wanted it, and it was much better than the "pods" that other universities have.
Dr. Imtaz Khan (Jesus College, Cambridge, August 2010): I was amazed to stay in Jesus College. All the facilities were amazingly value for money. I would like to stay there again.
David Thomson (Clare College, Cambridge, August 2010): Enjoyed the stay. Just as good as, if not better than, staying in a B + B.
Colin Bailey (St Catharine's College, Cambridge, August 2010): Room was fine apart from the bed matress need replacing for a comfortable night sleep.
Barbara Baron (Jesus College, Cambridge, August 2010): room booked without breakfast. Overall standard very good.
Dr Judith Frost (Clare College, Cambridge, August 2010): Everything about the stay was terrific. Only two exceptions: the mattress in the room was very poor, uncomfortable and did not meet the excellent standard of the rest of the accommodatons. I can't comment on breakfast as none was included. I would gladly stay at Clare again. Lovely and helpful staff and lovely accommodations.
STEVE HOWLETT (Jesus College, Cambridge, August 2010): There was no breakfast at all during my stay - :(
But the worst aspect was that the blanket on my bed was tiny! I was cold in the night - :(
My overall score is good though because the grounds and buildings of the college are beyond first class in appearance and upkeep.
Shame about the lack of breakfast and poor bedding...
Martina Lyons (Churchill College, Cambridge, August 2010): I was there five days, and only discovered that there was computer access the day before I left. that information on arrival would have been much appreciated. overall I was well pleased. thank you.
Margherita Poggiali (Clare College, Cambridge, August 2010): The morning in which we stayed there there was no breakfast served, which was a disappointment, as we were looking forward to dine in the hall, but also because we were not offered a discount.
We also had to check-out too early (9:30am), which is not average time for checking out.
The staff however were very friendly, nice and helpful and the rooms were exactly what we expected - students rooms, just vacated. Clean, tidy, and with a touch of nostalgia.
Stephen Rigg (Downing College, Cambridge, August 2010): A very, very wonderful weekend. Downing provided a very special setting and wedding experience for us all. Our sincerest thanks.
Sudaxshina Murdan (St Catharine's College, Cambridge, August 2010): Since we stayed for a whole week, it would have been helpful if we could have used the microwave in the kitchenettes on the floor. The kitchens were locked and the porters told us we were not allowed to use them.
Otherwise, we had a really good time. THe staff was really helpful and kind. We would certainly like to go back, and hope for the same room.
Stephen Rigg (Downing College, Cambridge, August 2010): We were very pleased with the standard of our room on the first floor. It exceeded our expectations of a student room and had every comfort that we required. The breakfast also catered for every taste with very nice lean bacon. An excellent stay, thankyou.

Miss Sally Shand (Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, August 2010): We did enjoy our stay. Just one or two comments. We missed access to any news via radio or TV. The TV room was across the road which was not enticing. I am aged 76 and found the doors very heavy to push!!! And the lack of any car parking facilities could have completely stopped us from coming. Fortunately we had a friend living in Cambridge who lent us parking space. Othersie all was really good.
Ursula Engelhardt (Clare College, Cambridge, August 2010): We enjoyed the experience of "living" in Clare College - although for 2 nights only!
Peter Bolton (Clare College, Cambridge, August 2010): Very helpful porters. Thanks
Leonard A Jones (Jesus College, Cambridge, August 2010): No breakfast as kitchens were shut for summer holidays.
Otherwise very good experience. Thanks.
Hugh Butland (Clare College, Cambridge, August 2010): I would rate all aspects as very good, esp. value for money.
Clive Smith (St Catharine's College, Cambridge, August 2010): This was much better than staying in some generic B&B and at a reasonable price. As ever, with many multi occupancy buildings there were inevitable door bangs, especially as the doors are fitted with fire hazard shutting mechanisms making them REALLY bang. I did not have the best night's sleep ever but the standard of the room and the experience as a whole outweighed that. I picked St Catherine's as the check out time was slightly later than most of the other colleges, though at 10:00, still rather early.
john nash (Clare College, Cambridge, August 2010): Clare College is an excellent place to stay, being close to the Backs and King's Parade but well away from the hustle and bustle of the centre of Cambridge. The room was fairly basic but it was fine for a short break. The provision of soap in the room would be a useful extra. The Porters were very helpful and friendly and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Cambridge
Mrs Kathleen Cannings (Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge, August 2010): good parking facilities, about 15 to 20 mins walk out of town centre, pleasant clean room & bathroom, basic kitchen with fridge & cooker. mostly excellent breakfast with cereals, organic yogurt, croissants & danish pastries but unpleasant coffee in thermos jugs. Lovely friendly staff (apart from one rather dour porter on arrival!)
Pamela Runestad (Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge, August 2010): Porter's Lodge staff were friendly and very, very helpful. It was a pleasure to stay at Lucy Cavendish and I will do so again if I have the chance.
Mrs B Glock (St Catharine's College, Cambridge, August 2010): Enjoyed our stay and the surroundings.
Jennifer Grant (Churchill College, Cambridge, August 2010): Everything excellent, only exception being blocked drain of basin, otherwise no problems and. as always everyone very friendly and helpful.
Mr K Thurlbeck (Churchill College, Cambridge, August 2010): I can't speak too highly of our stay at Churchill College. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the accommodation, in such lovely surroundings, surpassed many hotels we have experienced in the past. We would certainly visit Churchill again.
Alan Winder (Downing College, Cambridge, August 2010): Porters at Reception pleasant & capable chaps but didn't know breakfast times. Room basic & characterful -- v happy with that. Unique Cambridge Uni ambience pleasing. Breakfast appalling ie poor food & lethargic staff -- way below commercial standards in both respects. Parking very useful indeed. I will check your website to see if my comments are posted.
Dr. Christopher Terry (St Catharine's College, Cambridge, August 2010): It was a very pleasant stay. It is a pity Caths cannot find an affordable solution for the parking problem for people with cars as Downing, for example, can. Street rowdies outside Caths are a problem at nightbut that is a civic or policing responsibility. Cats itself is very good.
Mrs Mary Hernen (Jesus College, Cambridge, August 2010): Our stay at Jesus was wonderful. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful, which was a relief as we additional requirements due to disability. Very impressed with the small touches: quality linens and pillows, posh toiletries, tea/coffee/biscuits...and the comfiest college bed I've ever slept in. The housekeeping staff are to be congratulated. Beautiful huge grounds with sculptures and pretty courts. No breakfast due to staying during their annual kitchen closure, but nearby Sainsbury's provided suitable snacks, so nobody starved! Highly recommended.
Pamela Tomlinson (Churchill College, Cambridge, August 2010): Thoroughly enjoyed our stay as we found ALL the staff very friendly and helpful. Would have liked to relax in the bar at night but understand with so few people staying there it's not practical. Would do it again!
Heather McNab (Jesus College, Cambridge, August 2010): Breakfast was not included for the date I stayed so I can't comment but overall my stay was enjoyable. The room was basic but clean and the little wash back was a nice touch. Wifi would have been nice but I loved how spacious the room was, I wish my student room had been as big as that. I would recommend these rooms in the future.
A Matthews (Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge, August 2010): would recomend to all and sundry
Domenico RONCONI (Downing College, Cambridge, August 2010): In spite of being a little away from the oold colleges area, and in spite of the main entrance in a busy street, once you are inside the college site you feel as in an oasis of peace. I'd come back with pleasure when in Cambridge again.
miss heather jones (Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge, August 2010): I very much appreciated the kitchen on my floor allowing me to make hot drinks and keep things in the refreigerator, especially as the college was a bit away from the centre of Cambridge.
Ginny Mitchell (St Catharine's College, Cambridge, August 2010): My second stay and if anything I enjoyed it more than my first. Thanks.
Brenda Beech (Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, August 2010): It was a lovely place to stay; central situation, friendly welcome, gloriously peaceful, basic room but a very comprehensive breakfast!
Leonard James Holland (St Catharine's College, Cambridge, August 2010): After sightseeing all day and enjoying exccellent food, it would have been so nice to have been able to relax in a better "reading/TV" room.
However, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will certainly recommend this holiday to family and friends.
