Robinson College is set in several acres of attractive wooded gardens on the western edge of Cambridge City, only 2 miles from the M11 and yet just a few minutes walk from the city centre.
The youngest college in Cambridge, Robinson was designed and built to serve as a premier accommodation and conference venue in support of its academic vocation. Robinson offers the best of all worlds - comfort and efficiency alongside outstanding food, excellent service and a very convenient location.
The College bed and breakfast facility is awarded 4 stars Campus by VisitBritain for its comfortable standard of accommodation, regularly updated and maintained.
History to the present day
Robinson College is the most recent addition to the 31 colleges which make up the University of Cambridge.
It owes its foundation to the generosity of Sir David Robinson who founded Robinson Rentals, one of the first television rental companies. He also owned a successful racing stable in Newmarket.
The College received the award for architectural excellence from the Royal Institute of British Architecture for building completed between 1976 and 1980.
Food and Drinks
Full English Breakfast is available in the Garden Restaurant from 8.00am until 9.00 am. This is a staff assisted self service meal. A full range of cooked items and cereals is available as well as continental breakfast. A self clearing system operates in the Garden Restaurant.
There are no facilities for evening meals in College.
Grounds and gardens
Robinson College Gardens are a fusion of several pre-existing gardens which are subtly linked while still retaining their distinctive character. We now benefit from the plantings of the 1890s - early 1900s and from the focal water garden developed during the building of the College. Thus, magnificent mature trees and wilder areas are juxtaposed with more formal sections to make a diverse garden full of historical and horticultural interest which has become a haven for wildlife and a pleasure to the eye.
Other facilities
All of our bedrooms have Wi-Fi and wired internet access via our Ethernet network which guests may use for no additional charge. NB an Ethernet cable is required, available for sale at the Porters Lodge.
Laundrette facilities are available on site and irons and hairdryers can be borrowed from the Porters Lodge. There is a TV room available for guests. Please note that TVs are not provided in bedrooms.
Some rooms are situated on almost the ground floor (up three steps) and many bedrooms and most other areas of the College are accessible by lift. It might be helpful for guests to take into consideration that standard single rooms are located on upper floors which are accessible by between one and five flights of stairs. There are a limited number of rooms which are suitable for guests with access needs. Ideally those using wheelchairs should be accompanied by a companion. If you require further information on accessibility, please request this in the Additional Information section of the booking form.

Mrs Jane Deeley, July 2011: Very easy to book. Good value, clean and comfortable accommodation, with en-suite and breakfast included. All staff very welcoming and helpful. Would definitely book again!
Dr Emma Vitikainen, July 2011: very nice easy and smooth booking and stay. Breakfast was outstanding! Highly recommended.
Prof. Paulette Choné, March 2011: All was perfect, I recommand such stay especially for scholars because of the quiet atmosphere.
The bad points : 1. The bathroom should be renovated. 2. The matthress was too soft !
Gill Robbie, December 2010: Great experience. Porters were great-everyone should have one!
Jacqueline Pennington, December 2010: Very helpful staff and excellent breakfast served in an environment which was comparable with any 4 star hotel. Room was very clean and a really good size - perfect for study or preparation for conference or interview but had no TV. However this was the reason we booked so we were not expecting anything else. Overall very pleased with the accommodation and would definitely consider booking again
John Robinson, September 2010: We travelled from Australia and our accommodation was excellent. We highly recommned Robinson College to anyone visiting Cambridge. Staff were very welcoming and provided us with local information. Parking was easy and we were able to walk to the town. The gardens are very relaxing and a great place to spend a quiet afternoon. Thankyou for a wonderful time in beautiful Cambridge.
Sandra McCallum, September 2010: Ideal accommodation for anyone using the University Library for research, as the location is within easy walking distance. From the staff at the Porters lodge to those in catering, everyone was extremely helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable and the standard of daily cleaning was high. All in all an excellent experience at a time when different group and conferences were checking in and out. Special mobility needs were also followed up and taken into account.
Mrs Carol Williams, September 2010: For the money the room was very sparce and it would have helped if the website actually mentioned no television as it was assumed there would be one.
Richard Thwaites, September 2010: All the staff at Robinson College were extremely welcoming and helpful. The College is close enough to the centre of Cambridge walk there, but in a quiet area with easy parking just outside the college. Excellent Breakfast!
Lindsay Benaud, August 2010: We were very happy with our accommodation. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. The bathroom was in good condition with no problems with hot water supply. The breakfast choice was good, staff very pleasant and helpful. Good location, walking distance to Cambridge.

liz evans, July 2010: A great and economical way to stay in Cambridge. Throughly enjoyable. Many thanks!
Vegard Johnsen, July 2010: Everything was really good. The only thing I didn't like is the early check-out. I think 09:30 is too early and should be more like 11am, or at least an option to pay a bit extra to check out later.
Many thanks for a great stay,
Vegard
Mrs Jenny Andrews, July 2010: A clean, well equipped room with lovely views over the grounds. Porters were very helpful offering to get a taxi at very short notice. We had an excellent stay and will be back. A full English breakfast set us up for the day. The water and tea making facilities in the room were much appreciated as were the toiletries. All in all, it was very good value for money.
Dianne Keage, April 2010: An excellent experience staying at Robinson. Amazingly good value for the standard of room and service provided
Mrs HELEN ANNESLEY, March 2010: I would recommend staying here to others. Very pleasant and convenient for Cambridge.
