Jesus College is set in uniquely spacious and peaceful grounds. Its buildings include some of the oldest and most attractive in Cambridge; at the same time it offers accommodation with bright, modern, en-suite facilities. The college is easily accessible from major road networks and is within two minutes' walk of the city centre.

We currently have two different courts offering accommodation:

Our light and modern Library Court rooms with en-suite facilities can be occupied on a single or twin basis.

North Court en-suite rooms offer single accommodation with views over the cricket pitch and pavilion or the Orchard, the majority having balconies

Our rooms in Library Court and North Court have retained their five star rating for awarded by the Quality in Tourism board.

We are also able to offer a number of self catering houses along Jesus Lane and Malcolm Street. These houses have between five and seven accommodation rooms, with a communal kitchen, living area and garden.

History to the present day

Jesus College was founded in 1496. It took over a site and buildings from the twelfth-century Benedictine nunnery of St Mary and St Radegund and swiftly embarked on a major rebuilding. The nuns’ church, much modified, still serves as the college Chapel. Noteworthy former members of the college include the poet and philosopher Samuel Taylor Coleridge, the novelist Laurence Sterne, the first Astronomer Royal, John Flamsteed, and two of his successors.

Over the centuries, the college’s Tudor buildings have been preserved and restored and new buildings have been added; the result is a delightful and harmonious mixture of tradition and modernity. The newer buildings include the Quincentenary Library, designed by Evans and Shalev and opened by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 1996 to mark the quincentenary of the founding of the college. The college is also a centre for contemporary art, holding regular sculpture exhibitions and acquiring new works for display in the college grounds.

Food and Drinks

A full English and continental breakfast buffet is normally included in our rates and is provided in the main Hall each morning from 8.00 to 9.00 a.m. This is a good chance to experience the ambience of an impressive traditional college Hall.

Where breakfast is not available this is shown under each specific date and the rate is reduced.

Many good restaurants, cafés and shops are within easy walking distance.

Grounds and gardens

The grounds at Jesus College have an extensive variety of beautiful gardens. These include, sheltered courts and more informal areas such as the Orchard. Recent improvements to the woodland walk through The Grove at the perimeter of the College Close have earned our gardening team an award for the promotion of biodiversity.

Other facilities

Free wireless internet connection in bedrooms.

We can offer car parking for our resident guests - a nominal fee of £5 per car is payable directly upon check-in at our Porters Lodge. Please be aware; we cannot guarantee there will be parking spaces available at the time of booking.

Customer feedback

We guarantee that all our feedback is genuine and can only be submitted by people who have booked through our websites.

, February 2012: As an alumnus I am of course a little biased, but I was genuinely delighted with how nice it was to stay in Jesus college on our recent visit for a friend's wedding (also in college). The rooms are remarkable value really, and whilst the room was not exactly 5 star, the setting absolutely is. I had forgotten just how lovely the college environment is, and how peaceful despite being right in the heart of Cambridge. Our room was large and ensuite and served us perfectly, and the porters were their usual cheerful, helpful selves. I would recommend this to anyone, but particularly at this price.

, April 2011: We stayed in College for our wedding (graduated 2005) along with many of our guests. The opportunity to make use of the College accommodation made it even more special for us and our party. Thank you!

, April 2011: The porters were especially helpful

, April 2011: Excellent way to experience Cambridge. Jason the porter at the college was fantastic. Thanks for this great service - very easy and enjoyable. Thank you very much!

, September 2010: Brilliantr value for money service - we were very impressed.

, September 2010: The staff at Jesus college is incredibly helpful and available , especially provided all what is demanded from them in a day...special thanks to Andy who gave me a great route for running!

, September 2010: Breakfast was not included. Would have loved it if it was! the rooms were cold but the porters very kindly provided a heater.

, September 2010: Excellent value for money, good breakfast, comfortable and clean, wonderful setting. Perhaps a radio or small tv could be provided for paying guests in the future.

, September 2010: Very clean and comfortable rooms and very obliging staff.

, September 2010: Overall I was very pleased with the service. Obviously a small TV would have been most welcome, but the rooms are modestly priced, so one might be expecting too much. The tea and coffe satchets and kettle were most welcome indeed. My only concern was the entrance to my apartment from the outside has no lighting. One cannot see the Block 111 above the door lintel, or on the door itself in the dark. Therefore it is difficult to find the light inside the door, Aart from that, I was most satisfied indeed and compliment your staff on the high standard experienced. I was most impressed and indeed most gratified. Thank you.

, August 2010: Nice room, very friendly porter. Biscuits & Toiletries both nice but hot chocolate sachets would have been a nice addition

, August 2010: Am having to type this over again as computer failed to find you when I clicked Submit! I know porters don't carry luggage, but it's a pity it's no-one's job to do so. I had to carry 2 weeks' luggage to top floor myself. View, however, fantastic! Very impressed with room. Note: have marked breakfast average, but in fact there wasn't any. (I knew this in advance, of course.) No benches in wonderful Orchard - a pity. Porter helpful when asked to ring for taxi. Thanks for stay.

, August 2010: Couldn't comment on breakfast as unavailable at time of stay. The facilities were excellent and the rooms comfortable, clean with eveything needed. The porters were very helpful and available to answer all our questions. Great place to stay

, August 2010: An excellent, well-priced stay in a very comfortable room. Provision of toiletries and towels is much appreciated, and although the water pressure in the shower left quite a lot to be desired, my visit was a very pleasant one.

, August 2010: I was amazed to stay in Jesus College. All the facilities were amazingly value for money. I would like to stay there again.

, August 2010: room booked without breakfast. Overall standard very good.

, August 2010: No breakfast as kitchens were shut for summer holidays. Otherwise very good experience. Thanks.

, August 2010: Our stay at Jesus was wonderful. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful, which was a relief as we additional requirements due to disability. Very impressed with the small touches: quality linens and pillows, posh toiletries, tea/coffee/biscuits...and the comfiest college bed I've ever slept in. The housekeeping staff are to be congratulated. Beautiful huge grounds with sculptures and pretty courts. No breakfast due to staying during their annual kitchen closure, but nearby Sainsbury's provided suitable snacks, so nobody starved! Highly recommended.

, August 2010: Breakfast was not included for the date I stayed so I can't comment but overall my stay was enjoyable. The room was basic but clean and the little wash back was a nice touch. Wifi would have been nice but I loved how spacious the room was, I wish my student room had been as big as that. I would recommend these rooms in the future.

, August 2010: The summer holiday accommodation provided a great opportunity for visitors to experience a university college. The historical and academic atmosphere added to the visit to Cambridge.

, August 2010: Didn't have breakfast. Jesus college is beautiful - think the whole idea of getting rooms in university halls is great, though some of them do get quite expensive for what they are i.e. i think 30-40 is reasonable.

, August 2010: Breakfast would have been nice, but John Lewis did the job

, August 2010: Breakfast was not included so I cannot comment on the standard of breakfast. The room was basic but the ideal option if you want good value, simple accommodation in the centre of Cambridge.

, August 2010: Nice rooms. No hairdryer or iron.

, August 2010: did not have b-fast, i had a very nice stay! thank you

, August 2010: Excellent room, location was great and cleanliness superb!

, August 2010: Our stay and the wedding at Jesus College vas extremely enjoyable experience. Big Thank You to Staff for all services provided.
